Kim Chaelin Korea, b. 1983

Overview

Chaelin Kim, who grew up playing with and touching sculptures due to the influence of her father, who was a sculptor, has completed her bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at the Department of Sculpture at Hongik University. She creates sculptures that use touch as a medium, believing that the memory and time stored in the act of touching the sculpture are preserved. She allows the audience to appreciate her works through touch rather than sight, and explores the relational aspects based on the body, continuing to study the surface and mass of the non-formal sculptural pieces themselves, rather than focusing on the design aesthetics or representation of the human body.
